These terms set out the basis on which Jacqueline Roberts trades as The Advance 45:2. They are written to be clear, fair, and protective of both the families I serve and the small, private practice I run.

1. What I do

The Advance 45:2 provides private family navigation: advocacy, diagnostic placement support, and coordination for families in crisis or transition. I work alongside clinicians, professional advisers, educators, and other specialists, but I am not myself a licensed medical practitioner, therapist, solicitor, or statutory emergency service.

My role is to help families understand what they need, find the right people, and stay oriented while the formal system moves. I do not diagnose, treat, prescribe, give legal advice, or provide emergency intervention.

2. What I do not do

• I do not replace clinical, psychiatric, medical, or legal professionals.
• I do not provide crisis response or emergency care. If someone is in immediate danger, the right call is to local emergency services.
• I do not guarantee any particular outcome, placement, or timescale. Every family is different, and much depends on external clinicians, institutions, and the family’s own circumstances.

3. How engagements begin

Work begins only after a signed engagement letter and a cleared initial payment. Until then, any conversation is exploratory and does not create a duty of care or a professional-client relationship.

I work by private introduction, inquiry, or referral. I reserve the right to decline an engagement if I believe the situation is outside my expertise, beyond my capacity, or better served by another professional.

4. Fees and payment

Fees are agreed in the engagement letter before any work begins. Depending on the situation, this may be a fixed project fee, a monthly retainer, or a daily rate. All fees are payable in advance unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Travel, third-party reports, institutional fees, and other disbursements are charged separately and only with prior agreement. Invoices are payable within the terms stated on them. Late payment may delay or suspend work.

5. Confidentiality

Confidentiality is central to this work. I treat all information shared by or about a family as private and will not disclose it to anyone outside the engagement without clear consent, except where I am legally required to do so (for example, to prevent serious harm to a person).

I use secure, encrypted communication tools and store records in protected systems. Any professional I introduce to a family is bound by their own professional confidentiality and data-protection obligations.

6. Data protection

I handle personal data in accordance with the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). I only collect information that is necessary to assess and support the family, and I keep it only for as long as it is needed for that purpose or as required by law.

You have the right to ask what data I hold, to request correction or deletion, and to object to processing. To make a request, email TheAdvance45.2@proton.me.

7. Cancellation

For scheduled calls or meetings, please give at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Repeated short-notice cancellations may be charged at my discretion. For larger engagements, the cancellation terms in the engagement letter apply.

8. Limitation of liability

I carry professional indemnity insurance. My liability is limited to the fees paid for the specific engagement, except where liability cannot be limited by law. I am not liable for decisions made by third parties (clinicians, institutions, legal advisers) or for outcomes outside my reasonable control.

9. Free resources and the Family Handbook

The Family Handbook, guides, journal articles, and any other free content on this website are provided for general information and self-help only. They do not create a professional-client relationship, a duty of care, or any contract between you and The Advance 45:2.

The Advance 45:2 and Jacqueline Roberts do not accept any responsibility or liability for any loss, injury, damage, or other outcome arising from any person reading, using, relying on, or acting on any part of this website or the handbook. If you are in immediate danger or need urgent professional support, you must contact the appropriate emergency or statutory services in your country.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will first be addressed through good-faith discussion, and if necessary through the courts of England and Wales.

11. Changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to you is the one in force when your engagement begins. I will notify active clients of any material changes.
